A linear electric /hydraulic rear passenger lift offers safe and convenient wheelchair access (a telescopic lift platform may be needed for vehicles with limited height), a more cost-effective solution may be a fixed bifold, gas strut assisted ramp. If the internal space needs to be optimised, a Cassette lift mounted under the vehicle offers the advantage of side door access.
A wheelchair user could transfer outside the vehicle from wheelchair to a Braun Turney seat which mounts inside the vehicle adjacent to the side sliding door 2nd row forward facing position to rotate and lower outside the vehicle to enable transfer, and then lift the occupant safely back into the vehicle.
Wheelchair hoists come with various safe working loads dependent on the wheelchair to be lifted, some fold flat and some have a powered slew.
Once safely inside the vehicle some wheelchair occupants may be able to transfer to a passenger or driver single swivel seat, others may transfer from wheelchair to a powered 6-way seat to transfer from back of vehicle to cab.
There are many options for Wheelchair and occupant restraints, Unwin’s solo system offers 4 discreet floor anchors, in combination with budget friendly fixed belts or the convenience of retractable belts, whatever your chosen system, the weight of wheelchair and occupant is paramount to the system.
Need more passenger seating? We can retro fit additional fixed or removable seats, a clever 3rd row seating option is a forward-facing single seat that folds flat to the side allowing sufficient width for a wheelchair to pass.
